After my doctor's appointment we headed to get a snack at Cupcakes on Cantrell then I wanted to run by the Toggery to see if they had any church shoes for Stratton. I also thought it would be a good time to let Stratton pick out a gift to give Arden at the hospital. (She already bought him one!). Well all he was interested in was the toys and train table of course. I did manage to get his feet measured but didn't find any shoes I liked. I browsed around for a little while, they just have too much stuff to look at! When it was time to leave Stratton was mad that he didn't get to get a toy. He found a "robot hand" that he thought he had to have! He threw a little fit and of course he's not getting anything for sure after acting like that! It didn't take him long to calm down and we decided to walk down a few doors to the children's salon called Pigtails and Crewcuts. We know several friends that have taken their kiddos there for their first haircut. Stratton really needed a trim. I was hoping he would look in the store window and see all the neat seat and want to go in. Nope. We had to do a little bribing with the "robot hand" toy. Jarrod told him if he would go in and get his haircut without crying and without a fit he'd go back and buy him the toy. After a little coaxing he was sold. Luckily the place takes walk-ins and weren't too busy. It was 4:30 and they close at 5pm so we were cutting it close. But the lady that cut his hair was so nice and he just talked to her like he knew her. He picked the police car to sit in and to my surprise even wore the cape! He did so good! And the lady cutting his hair must have been an expert because she did a great job and was done in about ten minutes! By the time Jarrod got back with the toy she was almost done.
Afterwards Stratton was so proud of himself! We let him play with the train table while I paid. It was expensive, $20 with her tip, but so worth it! As we were walking to the car He told Jarrod "daddy, I didn't throw a fit!". Jarrod told him how good he did and gave him his toy and explained that when he's good he can have things he wants. I think it actually sunk in a little this time. He asked if he could have his toy when he got home and was really excited when we told him he could play with it in the car! He played with it almost all the way to Searcy.
We stopped in Searcy and had dinner with Nan and Pa at Chili's. Stratton can put a way the queso. He informed me that he didn't like tomato dip (salsa) anymore?! Then we thought we were headed home, but just as we were about to Judsonia Jarrod got a call from one of the guys he works with and they were needing a tester of some sort from the Searcy office. So instead of them sending someone all the way from up here to go get it we turned around and headed back to Searcy. At the Entergy office I changed Stratton into his pjs, since it was already getting close to his bedtime. We picked up the tester and were gone again. Since Jarrod was going to have to go into work when we got home, I drove most of the way so he could try and take a nap. It didn't take S long to fall asleep either! It was about 9:30 when we finally got home! Stratton didn't even stir when Jarrod got him out of the car and put him in bed. Poor little guy was pooped! Jarrod changed clothes and headed out, he ended up getting to come home around 12:30ish, so at least he did get some sleep. It seems like they been working so many all-nighters lately!
We had a great day overall. I thought Stratton did really good, especially considering he got a shorter than normal nap and was off schedule. And we waited so long at the doctor's office. It was probably our last trip to LR as a family of three. I get overwhelmed thinking of what it will be like with another crazy kid to keep up with! I'm sure it will be an adventure!
