Friday night we spent most of the evening watching the weather and it finally got pretty bad and we were under a tornado warning so we prepared ourselves and got in the hallway off the garage-the most inner part of our house- we don't really have a lot of options, all our rooms have windows and outside walls. We got Stratton out of bed and huddled in the entryway and waited it out. Luckily nothing major happened. Just some wind and lots of rain. He slept through the entire thing!
After the first round went through we opted to leave him in the hall laying on some blankets, rather than take him back to bed and risk having to get him out again. He slept there in for quite a while. Then he sort of rolled off his pillows and it woke him up.Well after that he didn't want to go back to sleep. So, after trying to let him "cry it out" for 20 mins, I gave in and moved to the rocking chair with him and I didn't get to bed until 3:30am!! We had planned on trying to head for Searcy around 9:30 Saturday morning, but then Jarrod got called out around 6:30 and I was so tired I didn't feel like going by myself. Friday afternoon I started running a fever again and the dr put me on some stronger antibiotics, so between not feeling good and no sleep I really wasn't in the best position to be driving anyway. My mom came up around 9am and took care of Stratton so I could get a little more rest.
Jarrod got home about 2pm and then we left for Searcy. We got to Jarrod's mom and dad's house and fed Stratton his supper and then we all went out for Daniel and Jennifer's bday- Daniel's was in March and Jennifer's was like three weeks ago- we tried to get into Who Dats but the wait was longer than we wanted to wait, so we ended up at KJ's in Judsonia. They had the news on in the restaurant and we were keeping a watch on the weather, and of course it started heading our direction. So our meal was cut short and we took off to Jarrod's aunt & uncles storm cellar. We drove through the heaviest rain I have even been in. I was pretty nervous that we were going to end up being in the middle of something really bad! But we made it and after a RUN to the storm cellar we were all soaked, it looked like we had all just gotten out of the shower we were so wet. I bet their yard had 3-4 inches of standing water! I had on flipflops and I really thought I was going to loose one running, but I was just going to leave it! With all the wind, rain and lightening I could have cared less! It was Stratton's first time in a storm shelter, and it was getting close to his bedtime so he was pretty sleepy, but he acted fine. I think he was just really confused about what we were doing and where we were. In the storm cellar there were 10 of us! I don't know that we could have gotten another person in there! It was packed. But a least we were all safe! After that storm finally blew over we went back to Terry and Margie's and stayed up till after midnight watching the weather. It continued to storm but not as bad. I guess the conditions were just perfect for severe weather, but what are the chances that we have to deal with it two days in a row?!
