Stratton's First Movie!

poster2

We took Stratton to see the Yogi Bear movie today. Back a few months ago when Jarrod and I were at the theater seeing a movie there was a poster advertising for the Yogi Bear movie, and Jarrod said "I think I know what Stratton's first movie is going to be!". It came out the week before Christmas, but we were in Branson and this was the first chance we have had to go!! I didn't get any pictures because we were running late (as always) and it was raining! We had thought we would go to the 2:30 showing but Stratton (and Jarrod) was still taking a nap. So, we ended up going to the 4:30 show. I knew he wouldn't sit through the whole thing but he did better than I expected! At the beginning the surround sound took him by surprise, he was looking behind him to see what was going on! He sat in Jarrod's lap for a good 30 minutes straight watching before starting to get a little restless, then he sat in the seat between us till about 30 minutes before it was over, then he started getting really restless and wanting down so he and I went out to the bathroom and then stood by the stairs in the theater. We actually stayed for the entire movie! It wasn't that great of a movie (not that I really expected it to be) but I think Stratton enjoyed most of it. He would get distracted when it got to the slower parts, but for the most of it he was really into it! I think it will be awhile before we try it again, but I was really proud of him!

As soon as the movie was over we ran to Wendy's and grabbed a bite before heading straight to church! In church tonight Stratton was blowing kisses to our friend Carla and flirting with her. Matt (her husband) started acting like it made him mad and Stratton just thought that was so funny! He's always been a social baby, but lately he has started really eating up attention!

Jarrod's mom is coming tomorrow afternoon to pick up Stratton. He is going to stay with them until Saturday. I have so much to do while he is gone- take down all the christmas decor, clean house (using my new Bissell sweeper steam mop), take back & exchange some christmas gifts, give the dog a bath (that's another story all together!) and figure out where we are having our New Year's get together and find something to cook for that!

I can't believe tomorrow is Thursday! Why does vacation time go by so fast?! I am not ready to go back to work!!

Hanging out at home

I am off this week (yay!) so Stratton and I have been taking it easy and having lots of fun at home! He has been so good! I was afraid after the crazy weekend he would be nothing but trouble but I haven't had to spank him once. . .yet. . . He has actually been sleeping later than usual. I don't know if he is just really worn out or what, but it sure is nice!

Yesterday my mom and dad came to town to run some errands and we met them for lunch (late lunch) and then they watched him while I ran to Kroger to get some much needed groceries! Then when Jarrod got home we went to TaMolly's for supper.

We are planning on taking him to his first movie this week sometime. Jarrod is off for the rest of the week starting on Wednesday so maybe we can catch an early show since I don't think we will make it through an entire movie!

2010 Christmas Morning

We went ahead and stayed at my mom and dads house Christmas eve. Since we have dinner with the Wilson side of the family on Christmas eve it doesn't make much sense to drive home late then get right back up to come back to HR the next morning for Christmas with my mom & dad and Dillon & Brandye before heading to my other grandparents in HR! So Santa found us in Hickory Ridge and wow, between Santa and all the other gifts there was a room full! Makes me wonder what it will be like when there is more than one grandkid!!

Santa brought Stratton a Ball pit & a full stocking!

Mommy and Daddy got him a 4 wheeler!!

And Gigi & Pops got him a new rocking chair that is just his size!

The ball pit stole the show. It was the only thing he wanted to play with!

I guess he was a good boy by the looks of all the toys he got!

He kept saying "Oh!" and "Wow!" haha!

Jarrod must have been good, too! He got a new duck hunting coat & pants, a tool box for his truck, new jeans and lots more!! I must have been the best out of everyone though! Jarrod surprised me with gorgeous diamond hoop earrings!

Merry Christmas!!

DSC_0506

We will begin our Christmas celebration tonight with the Wilson side of the family for dinner and dirty Santa game! Then we have a jam packed Christmas day planned starting with opening Santa gifts and our gifts to each other first thing in the morning. Dillon and Brandye are coming later in the morning to open gifts with us and my mom and dad. Then we head to my Nanny and Papa's house for lunch and presents with the Gibson side of the family. We will probably try to leave Hickory Ridge around 3pm so Stratton can catch a quick nap on the road to Searcy. We are having dinner (homemade pizza!) with Jarrod's family and staying the night at his mom and dad's house. Whew! It will be busy but fun! I can't wait to see how Stratton reacts to the whole Christmas thing and opening presents!!

Have a safe and happy Christmas!!

Stratton’s Daycare Christmas Party

It’s amazing to me how some kids LOVE santa and some don’t. There were both types at the daycare party. One little girl would not leave his side and others cried the whole time he was there. Stratton was interested in him, but didn’t want to sit with him or get too close to him. When Mrs. Sherry tried to sit him in his lap, he started to cry!! Goodness! This is becoming a habit!! It was a cute little party. They gave them WAY too many sweets though!!

Branson Trip

Our annual MAP conference was this past weekend. It’s probably my favorite project/event to plan, but I am always glad when it’s over!! We had a really good time, as always. The meeting went really well. We did some shopping and got to eat at some of our favorite places. This year there was a lot going on at the Chateau. They were having a Breakfast with Santa (that pretty much the whole group went to) on Saturday morning. It was fun, well for me it was anyway! Jarrod had to stand in the santa line for about an hour! Then when it was finally Stratton’s turn he didn’t want to sit in his lap and of course cried!

It was fun, but we didn’t get a bit of rest! I had started getting sick late last week, so I was wrestling with that and of course Stratton was out of his routine so he was a little stinker sometimes. . .and having my parents around the whole time was really nice, but it didn’t help him in the behavior department!! He knows he can get away with stuff when they are around!

I didn’t get many pictures, mainly because I thought I lost my camera. Thanks to Laura for letting me use hers at the Breakfast with Santa! I did find it on Saturday night in a pocket in the diaper bag!

That’s my boy!

We can’t get the sweeper vac out without a fight! Stratton wants to do it HIMSELF! Which is actually fine with me! He doesn’t do too bad of a job! He does get pretty upset when the battery finally runs down though.
