2007 Showcase of Homes Tour

Not long after we bought our house, we found out that the five houses being built directly behind ours were part of the 2007 Showcase Homes. It has been quite interesting watching the progress over the last couple of months. The Showcase of Homes was open to the public the last two weekends. For $9 you could tour all five of the homes. Saturday afternoon after Mom and I did a little shopping and ran some errands we toured the homes. We had a good time but it took a couple hours and by the time we were finished my feet were throbbing!

All the homes were beautiful and had some good ideas but my personal favorite was the "Bolder Crest".
It is pretty close to my dream house vision. There was a rustic feel and yet it was very modern in design. I took a lot of pictures and collected some good ideas to put in my idea book! Here are some Highlights . . .
The Kitchen is a cook's dream, complete with a tin ceiling!! So Cool!

The Living Room, Mom loved the leather sectional. . .

Our Favorite part was the outside entertaining area.
In one of the other houses . . .
One of my favorite trends right now is stained & scored concrete floors.

It's looking like Fall!

I must brag on my wonderful husband. This past weekend on Friday and Saturday both he worked very hard on the front yard. He bought mums and planted them around the mailbox and got some pumpkins to sit around in between them. He also set up the shepherd hooks and hung the candle holders and candles on them. It all looks so nice & fall-ish! He did all this 100% on his own, the whole idea was even his! So I am very pleased with his "project". I think he did a great job!

We did have two pumpkins but one was tragically abducted and was found smashed in the road! So, beware there are some evil pumpkin vandals on the prowl!! And I also made two fall arrangements and had them sitting by the front door but one was ravaged by the wind & rain last week, so I'm down to one of those now, too!

The sky is God's canvas

After what seems like days of rain, yesterday at sunset there was a very brief clearing which made for a spectacular sunset! How anyone could see a stunning display of colors like this in the sky and not believe that there is a God is beyond me! What an awesome sight! And what a brilliant conclusion to such a wet and dreary day.

I took these pictures from our back porch.

Happy Birthday Margie!

Jarrod and I had a birthday dinner party for his mom's birthday this past Saturday. It was the first party we have hosted in our new house. We had a fun time! On the menu: Beef Enchiladas, Chicken Enchiladas, Stuffed Bell Peppers, Mexican Layered Salad, Chips & Dip. . . .and for Dessert, a Oreo Cookie Torte!
The cake didn't turn out as pretty as the one in the cookbook looked, I tried to hide my mess ups by decorating it with Oreo's! Even though it didn't look so great it was really yummy!

As a present I made Margie personalized notecards, enclosure cards and address labels and packaged it all in a custom decorated paint can.

I think it turned out pretty cute, considering it was my first try at decorating a paint can!

Our House

Here are some pictures of some of the finished areas in our new house, for those of you who haven't been by to see us in person. . .

It's my first time . . .

. . . to post something on my blog! I decided to create this blog, so our friends and family can keep up with what is going on in our life. Not that we are particularly interesting or have exciting lives or anything. Nope. We're just regular, everyday people. Let me catch you up on what's been happening in the past year or so. . . Both of us have very good, but not so glamorous jobs. Jarrod has started a new job working for Entergy. He is a substation repair technician. Which is a great position to be in. He won't (hopefully) be climbing any poles like the Linemen do, but it has it's dangers. Right now he is working four ten hour days, so he has Friday and the rest of the weekend off. He is really liking his job and has already received a pay raise! We have good benefits and that counts for a lot! I am working for Cullum Seeds. My title there is the Loyalty Marketing Specialist. But I do basically whatever needs to be done that day! Mainly, I work on customer based projects like newsletters, programs, letters and mailings. I do some in-house publication design, I handle the event planning, and our wearables program. I like my job and the people that I work with, so for me it's a great place to be. We have recently moved to Jonesboro and bought our first home. We love our new house! It's just a little less than 1700 sq. ft. , but to us it's a castle! There are still a few things that need to be done before we are "completely" settled in, but we're making progress! We really like living in Jonesboro. Having resturants and shopping within a couple of miles is great! For now it's just Jarrod and I and our cat, Taki. She is a stray I found hanging around the barn just weeks before we were married. So after the wedding we adopted her and now we just couldn't imagine life without her. She is an unending source of entertainment. For those of you (you know who you are) who keep asking "When are you going to have a baby?" . . . . we are planning on starting a family in the near future, so this blog is a step in that direction, too! So, please keep us in your prayers! Right now a big part of my free time is filled with my hobby, that is quickly turning into a part-time business. I create custom invitations, annoucements and stationary. This is one of my many creative outlets and I will be sharing my projects on this blog as well. Hopefully it will stimulate some more business for me as well! That's all for now. Check back soon . . .but not too often. It may take me awhile to get in the habit of posting! Love to all!!
