A rough weekend

Last week was so nice! Lots of sunny and warm afternoons! Thursday evening after I picked Stratton up at school I took him to the playground at our church for a little while. Jarrod met us up there when he got off work and brought us supper so we could have a picnic! Stratton was loving it! He didn’t even throw a fit when we had to leave.

Friday night we had planned to take Stratton to the Monster Truck Jam in Memphis at the Forum. We even left early so that we could eat at Firebirds before the show. About halfway there Stratton gets sick, so we turn around and head home. Stratton was so disappointed.  He understood why we couldn’t go, then he said “We go see Monster trucks when I feel better?”. . . poor thing! If we can make it work we may try to take him to the one in Jonesboro this weekend. We got home gave him a bath and some meds and he went to bed a little before 8pm.

Friday night Dillon called to tell me that Dusty (our 15 yr old lab) wasn’t doing well. So I went over to their house at about 9pm after we had gotten Stratton settled and in bed. Mom and Dad came too. She made it till about 2am. We ended up meeting back up at my mom and dad’s Saturday morning to burry her beside Doc (her brother that died last year). It was really sad. But she was getting old and having a hard time getting around and she was on lots of meds, and I’m sure she was in a lot of pain, so the fact that she isn’t suffering anymore comforts me.

Jarrod and I went back to Jonesboro and Stratton stayed with my mom and dad. I went home and took a long nap while Jarrod ran some errands. I got up around 4pm and was feeling better so we decided to go get something to eat and try to catch a movie. So the day wasn’t all bad. We haven’t had a “date night” in months so it was really nice.

Sunday we got up and went to church in Hickory Ridge, then had a our joint birthday lunch with the Wilson side of the family at my mom and dad’s house. We hung out there until about 4pm then we headed back to Jonesboro, went to church grabbed some dinner with some friends and went home and crashed! Or well, I crashed Jarrod was busy getting packed and ready for his week in Little Rock.  He will be doing training Monday-Thursday this week, hopefully he will be home late Thursday night! Oh! And He and Stratton gave me my birthday present, a braided leather Pandora bracelet! It’s so cute- and different- I love it!

If everything goes just right, and I’m not completely exhausted from the week of being a single parent. . . maybe we can take S to the Monster Trucks Friday night. . . I’m not holding my breath! Then we have a wedding to go to in Clarksville on Saturday and plan on dropping S off at Jarrod’s mom and dad’s house on our way and then spending the night with them after the wedding so we don’t have to drive all the way back. We will probably do our birthday with the Staggs at some point on Sunday, I think.  Whew! Another whirlwind weekend on the horizon!

Weekend in Fayetteville

Things didn’t exactly go as planned. . .as if they ever do?! But we had a pretty good time and even though the Hogs lost and plans fell through, we made some memories!

Friday we left around 4pm, stopped in Searcy to pick up the sweatshirt and hog hat Jarrod’s parents had bought Stratton the weekend before in Fayetteville, and ate supper. We got there about 9:30ish. Stratton fell asleep about 7:30 so he’d had a good nap and was ready to play! We finally got settled in and all went to bed around 11:30!  We got a studio king which had a sofa bed in it and surprisingly Stratton loved it and we didn’t have any problems with him sleeping in it! Small victories!

Saturday morning Stratton woke up at 6:30!!! This kid has got to learn to sleep later!! But he was ready to go! While we were trying to get ready he ran around the hotel room naked with his hog hat on yelling “Woo Pig Sooie!”.  . .I have some funnier pictures but I don’t think I should post them, this is the only “decent” one I have!! This boy loves to be naked!!

It took us awhile to get around. We gave Jarrod his birthday present, which Stratton told him what it was as I was handing him the bag! Never let a 2 year old go bday shopping with you! They can’t keep a secret!

After breakfast at the hotel we decided to run to the Parkview Promenade Mall and hit the big Razorback store there and grab some lunch. Well of course Stratton fell asleep as soon as we got him in the stroller! He slept for a good 30-45 mins. He woke up just as we were leaving the shopping center, and he was ready for lunch. We decided to try the Texas Land and Cattle, there is one in Branson we have been wanting to try but haven’t ever got around to it. It was alright- nothing particularly fantastic. Then we headed back to the hotel to get Stratton down for a nap, and we all needed to rest! I just knew Stratton would fall asleep on ride back, but he held out. So I knew as soon as we got back and laid him down he would pass out! Guess what?? He wouldn’t give it up!! We even turned off the tv and lights and he still wouldn’t lay down for more than a few minutes! Jarrod and I were both frustrated, and knew it was going to be a long night without t decent nap! But what can you do? We got ready and left the hotel around 3:30 to head to Bud Walton. Guess what? Yep, Stratton passed out in the truck! The good thing is that we found some college kids parking people in their yards super close to the arena, so we paid $15 to park and sat in the truck for 45 minutes while Stratton slept!

The game was ok. We got the cheaper seats, since we never know how long we’ll be staying. . .with a 2 year old you just never know!! Of course we were losing the whole time and there were drunk idiots sitting next to us, so that was a downer. But Jarrod got Stratton and I a funnel cake and the half time Chinese acrobats were awesome! Stratton was really good, but he was getting restless, and there wasn’t room for moving around without knocking someone in front of us in the head! We left with 12 mins left in the second half and thought we’d at least go eat something good for supper. Wrong. By the time we got out it was 7:30 and all the restaurants were packed and Stratton was starving and couldn’t wait another hour to eat without a meltdown, so we ended up at Chick-Fil-A! Oh, well. Like I said we made some memories, right?!

Jarrod looks mad, I wonder why?? Haha-ok not funny.

Sunday we were supposed to have lunch with one of Jarrod’s college buddies and his wife, but that didn’t pan out and we ended up not leaving until after noon. We decided to run back by Jarrod’s mom and dads and then Jennifer brought Archer by, so the boys got to play. Then we ordered pizza and had supper. The boys enjoyed playing outside for awhile. Stratton was rolling in the yard and getting grass all over him! They actually play really well most of the time. Surprisingly Stratton isn’t too much of a bully!

Singing!

This boy loves to sing! I am not sure what inspired this breakout of song, I can’t remember. . .it looks like I am making my bed. I guess it’s always a good time for a song or two?! It’s funny when he comes home from school or church and is singing songs I don’t even know! I need to sit in on his bible class and learn all the new songs I don’t know! And more recently he’s started making up songs. It’s quite funny. Most of the time he is just repeating a word or sentence in a sing-songy voice, but it is usually about the most random stuff- like my heartburn. “Heartburn, Heartburn, Heartburn, mommy got heartburn!”. Seriously, I think we might have a future jingle writer on our hands? A couple of nights ago in the tub he was singing “I see Jalyn at school tomorrow!!” Over and over and over. . . His teacher also told me yesterday that when it’s time to clean up, Stratton is the first one to start busting out the “Clean-up” song, but he rarely actually helps cleaning up he just stands there and sings while all the other kids are picking up?! What are we going to do with him!!

Happy “Balentine’s” Day!

I really wish I could have gotten Stratton to say it on Camera- because it was too funny. Oh well. We had a good (pretty regular day) Stratton had a little party at school. . .which I missed due to a meeting. And then he got a special Valentine from Mommy and Daddy when he got home.

He got a “Razorback Tackle Buddy” and new movie and balloons!

IMG_0594

Oh, wow. This is the best toy ever!! He LOVES it!

I got flowers sent to work (I love flowers!) and a sweet card from Jarrod and Stratton gave me a rose and a card. Daddy got a card from me and Stratton and I got him some petit fours from the new Harps Bakery. . .he loves them, but never gets them! We had a nice supper in and then all went to bed early! That’s what I call a good day!

Funny pictures from the past week

What a week! We’ve had a super busy week to begin with between work, errands, Dr. appts and then early Friday morning Stratton came down with the stomach bug. Friday and most of Saturday we stayed around the house since Stratton was so sick and just felt bad.  Jarrod had to work Saturday afternoon, but after he got home Stratton was feeling much better and so we ventured out to the grocery store. Stratton and I were ready to get out of the house!!  Then Sunday night after church and a baby shower we went to some friends house to watch the Super Bowl. Hence, not much rest this weekend!!

We did get to play outside a little Thursday night since it was so nice and warm. Stratton loves to play outside, I will be glad when it warms up and he can stay outside for longer periods of time.

Sadey is such a snuggler. She loves to get right up beside you and she will grab your arm, and if your sitting she wants to have her head or at least a paw on your lap.

IMG_0558

She was trying to lick Jarrod’s neck, so he leaned forward. . . .

Haha, and Sadey almost went for a piggy back ride!

IMG_0559

Saturday, Stratton felt much better. . .It’s amazing to me how kids can go from being so sick to bouncing off the walls the second they get to feeling better!

IMG_0565

He always wants to love on and “nuggle” with Taki. Can you see the look on her face as he tries to lay down by her?? She tolerates him a lot better than I would have ever imagined, but she has her limits.
