Last week was so nice! Lots of sunny and warm afternoons! Thursday evening after I picked Stratton up at school I took him to the playground at our church for a little while. Jarrod met us up there when he got off work and brought us supper so we could have a picnic! Stratton was loving it! He didn’t even throw a fit when we had to leave.
Friday night we had planned to take Stratton to the Monster Truck Jam in Memphis at the Forum. We even left early so that we could eat at Firebirds before the show. About halfway there Stratton gets sick, so we turn around and head home. Stratton was so disappointed. He understood why we couldn’t go, then he said “We go see Monster trucks when I feel better?”. . . poor thing! If we can make it work we may try to take him to the one in Jonesboro this weekend. We got home gave him a bath and some meds and he went to bed a little before 8pm.
Friday night Dillon called to tell me that Dusty (our 15 yr old lab) wasn’t doing well. So I went over to their house at about 9pm after we had gotten Stratton settled and in bed. Mom and Dad came too. She made it till about 2am. We ended up meeting back up at my mom and dad’s Saturday morning to burry her beside Doc (her brother that died last year). It was really sad. But she was getting old and having a hard time getting around and she was on lots of meds, and I’m sure she was in a lot of pain, so the fact that she isn’t suffering anymore comforts me.
Jarrod and I went back to Jonesboro and Stratton stayed with my mom and dad. I went home and took a long nap while Jarrod ran some errands. I got up around 4pm and was feeling better so we decided to go get something to eat and try to catch a movie. So the day wasn’t all bad. We haven’t had a “date night” in months so it was really nice.
Sunday we got up and went to church in Hickory Ridge, then had a our joint birthday lunch with the Wilson side of the family at my mom and dad’s house. We hung out there until about 4pm then we headed back to Jonesboro, went to church grabbed some dinner with some friends and went home and crashed! Or well, I crashed Jarrod was busy getting packed and ready for his week in Little Rock. He will be doing training Monday-Thursday this week, hopefully he will be home late Thursday night! Oh! And He and Stratton gave me my birthday present, a braided leather Pandora bracelet! It’s so cute- and different- I love it!
If everything goes just right, and I’m not completely exhausted from the week of being a single parent. . . maybe we can take S to the Monster Trucks Friday night. . . I’m not holding my breath! Then we have a wedding to go to in Clarksville on Saturday and plan on dropping S off at Jarrod’s mom and dad’s house on our way and then spending the night with them after the wedding so we don’t have to drive all the way back. We will probably do our birthday with the Staggs at some point on Sunday, I think. Whew! Another whirlwind weekend on the horizon!
